BACKSTORY:

Jazz is an alien that loves laser guns. One day he meets up with a wizard from earth. this latter doesn't like Jazz's attitude and so, he curses him with "the slayer's curse".

When he was cursed he blacked out and woke up in a dungeon somewhere in the middle of nowhere. He finds out he can shoot infinite laser beams and transforms when he heats up. He has now to kill his way back to normal life.

The game:

This game was made for the WGJ #150. So the story is still not fully incorporated.

In this first part of the game, you will try to find a way out of the first dungeon, discovering the character's basic abilities.

The core mechanic of the game is that you lose points when you destroy blocks and actually in order to win, need to destroy blocks. In this sense you are the enemy, and the enemies you fight aren't because they actually help you get score.

I hope you enjoy.

Oh and by the way, this is my very first submission :-)normal jazz

Like most jam games (especially first ones, congrats btw), the core idea is pretty good but there are some minor problems.First and foremost is that the central mechanic (losing score when firing) isn't explained so I found myself dying a lot because I didn't know score depleted by firing.  Also increasing the character's jump would mean that falling into the spikes wouldn't be a instant game over. That said the game has some excellent juice when firing the gun, the sound the knock back, everything. The core idea is also quite good,  though I'm not entirely sure how it relates to the theme.

Thank you for the feedback! I actually wanted to implement a tutorial level to avoid the confusion. As for the relation to the theme, Jazz is in a way his own enemy, the abilities he got, the score, and the way he got there.. he plays against himself...you are your enemy therefore you are the enemy. Once again thank you for the feedback, I will definitely be posting updates!
